Muan Country Club Suspends Operations to Honor Jeju Air Crash Victims, Employees Volunteer at the Scene
Muan Country Club, located in Muan, Jeollanam-do, has temporarily suspended its operations in response to the tragic Jeju Air passenger plane crash. The club’s management and staff have taken the initiative to volunteer at the crash site to assist with the aftermath.
According to a statement from Muan Country Club on the 31st, CEO Choi Young-gon and employees have closed the golf course and are providing drinks and meals to those involved in the incident.
A representative from Muan Country Club explained, “The course will remain closed for the next two days. Our staff has been working in shifts since last night to provide aid at the site.”
Located just an 8-minute drive (6.8 km) from the crash site at Muan Airport, Muan Country Club made this decision as part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility. The club has been dedicated to charitable activities, having donated 100 million KRW annually since 2020.
In addition, other companies have joined the philanthropic efforts following the tragedy. The Black Yak Kang Tae-seon Sharing Foundation donated 200 Heva down jackets, valued at approximately 100 million KRW, to the families of the victims and volunteers on the 30th.
Coupang contributed over 10,000 essential items, including hot packs, masks, and portable toothbrush and toothpaste sets, while EDIYA Coffee, a popular franchise coffee brand, has been providing coffee, bottled water, and snacks. Furthermore, HD Samho, based in Muan, Jeollanam-do, donated 300 million KRW to the Community Chest of Korea to support the victims and their families.
